Hi all,for a little while now i have had a rattle from the passenger door whilst driving which is getting worse. It's as if the window is rattling against the quarterlights, but on closer inspection there is a rubber channel preventing this, and it is still firmly in place. This now leads me to think that it might be the motor or mechanism itself which has come loose, and is making the rattle inside the door.if i lower the window slightly the rattle seems to stop, and it definately sounds like a metal on glass rattle. Is this a common problem, and how easy is it to remove the door trim on my 2000 model griff please?

Hi Mike, on mine there are 3 nuts with large washers which let you remove the outer door trim. These are accessed through the speaker hole, one is in front of the speaker, the other 2 are about where the door pull part of the trim is. If you have big hands its a bit tight but if you have a wife or children it could be a bonus. There may be a couple of self tapping screws behind the ash tray but not always. The inner door card is just held by screws which are buried in the carpet. good luck, John. PS good to see you again at Chatsworth.

Mike,

I'm an old hand at getting the door trims off now. PM me if you want to pop round and we'll have a go.

Ben.

If you take the speaker out you should be able to have a feel around and see if anything is loose.

On my much older 92 Griff the top ally trim rattles a bit until I raise the window an inch.....they all do that!
