Possible starter solenoid question

I'm sure this is one that's been around many times before but can't remember the solution and the forum search facility is not working. In the last week I've switched the engine off twice then to find it won't restart. Ingition OK, petrol pump whirrs but final turn and no cranking or even any attempt to. However I note the dials drop a bit so it's drawing power.

Left it for half and hour and she comes back to life.... perfect as usual.

I seem to recall this is something lots of people have experienced and there's a simple fix / mod - something to do with heat an starter solenoids if I remember correctly. Can someone remind me.

May be beyond helping and replacing but this mod may help and will help the new one if you have to replace.
