Injector Upgrade Question
Discussion
Pintle or 4 hole disk type ?
I am advised the 4 hole disk type are the upgrade to the slightly older pintle style. These being Bosch 30lbs jobs.
Before we enter into the bigger injector debate, my engine was rebuilt by V8D last year, with one of Rob's Stealth cams, balanced etc with trumpets and ported/matched inlet. It will be getting a 72mm throttle (want to keep it standard looking) along with new loom and Emerald ECU. It will be running wasted spark/coil packs.
So I'm not just doing injctors for the sake of it, the engine did over 340bhp on V8D's engine dyno last year and runs a Mark Adams chip as the standard chip couldn' fuel it enough.
The winter project therefore is to give the induction and fuelling that the engine build should have and get rid of the awful dizzy and AFM set up.
Any views on the injectors ?

The disk type in my experience generally give worse atomisation and mixture preparation. I'd fit larger flow pintle injectors, also increasing the fuel pressure is always good providing your pump and pipes etc can take it.
The increased pressure does give you more flow but its a law of diminishing returns the main benefit is it reduces the fuel droplet size so gives better combustion

350Matt,
I agree with all you have said, what has thrown me is that I was after the pintle type and speaking to the injector supplier, who are a specialist in injectors, they have told me that the 4 hole disk type were the upgraded version away from the pintle type.
Giving better atomistion etc ....
I would normally agree with the disk argument, but as I understand it they developed the holes to make them better ..

hi Johno,
how is life?
I got the Bosch injectors for my new engine, don't know what type they are though. Got them through Austec/Mark Adams, they will know what you need. Will I see you at Zolder this year?
BTW 340 bhp is a LOT of power for a 5.0, congrats!

Aye but is was on an engine dyno and did it have the same inlet / exhaust components that he has in the car ..
It's just a superb indication of what the engine can do .. but the car installation 'could' be a compromise..
