what's the best rover V8 uprated engine out there?
Discussion
meantime i'm trying to have a clear view of what are going to be the difficulties of a major (chevy) engine swap into my griffith, i'd like to have your ideas on what's the best larger capacity rover high output engine available for my car and who's the best builder out there...and a further iussue, i'd like to have it possibly carbed, does any of you guys a high output carbed large capacity (and i mean over 5 ltrs) rover engine? thanks/giuseppe
Wildcat Engineering? Turbos / Superchargers ? Many aftermarket ECU's as well...

yep, have to agree john eales is rightbup their with da very best in my oppinion.very pricey though but worth it..as much as i would like a nice yank engine in a tvr ..think if money no object would prefer to develop a real rock solid rover v8 of original design..it much more suited to a english designed and built car..think if wanted something with a yank engine would opt for a cobra..

If you're looking at a carb setup, drop Guillotine an email his rv8 running quad Dellortos was pushing 400bhp plus before de-tuning it for the Tuscan challenge series.
Another John Eales engine BTW...
John has built the 520's engine for me and has continually uprated it ever since, going from single through triple and 8 throttle bodies and now with a Vortech supercharger with 500+ bhp. He also has a special manifold in preparation that will take throttle bodies or carbs that turn them through 90 deg so that they go under the bonnet of cars like Griffs.
Definitely worth a call and someone who is used to shipping engines all over the place. His website is www.rover-v8.com
yep steve, JE it is.
Absolutely THE man. A little more expensive, but you get what you pay for.
Mines now done around 10,000 miles track/road after being specc'd for Sprints. Just had a full rebuild for this years Challenge, with revs/power dropped for group B (350bhp). Heads were quite worn, but I was regularly revving to 7400 on the track. Very strong engines.
Phone and have a chat, you might find its worth a little extra. everyone else is using his work anyway!

Don't expect anything less than 20k to build a wildcat 6ltr,we have one here in a tuscan race car, over 700hp N.A!
i was actually thinking at 'the best (affordable) engine builder'...maybe V8D is the way to go.
Generally the answer seems to vary depending upon your perameters.
RV8s have originality, can be tuned but for quite a lot per bhp.
If you want big bhp numbers the Chevvy engines are easier and cheaper.
John Eales & Dennis Priddle built my 4.6 supercharged TVR engine - it did me well for 3 years and has just been re-built with a new short motor and improved big valve, low comp heads. it's a monster and i don't need it any more so it's for sale, complete with MoTec fully programmable EFi and hi-flow injectors. let me know if you're interested - it's going for a very reasonable amount!

Drop Rob Robertson a line (V8 Racing) and get his tel no and have a chat with him before you do anything mate. The best around.... (nice bloke too)
Yes, I'd have to second him as well. Well popular on here and I think they do better stuff then JEM or John Eales once you get down to the nitty grittys.
Boosted.
