Some while ago the Diff in my 98 500 became very noisy and I swapped it for one from a breakers. A tag attached to both casings showed the same ratio but despite that the replacement one has a noticeably higher gearing. Do any of you know how many ratios were used on the later type Diff ?

Sorry for being a bit simple but is it simply a case of making one turn of the input shaft and counting the output rotation?

The higher gearing suited me for a while but if there were just two types
I have decided to have the old one rebuilt and re fit it. If however there was a ratio between the two then perhaps that would suit me better.

O.E on the BTR for the Griff and Chim was 3.45,you may have one from the later t chassis's that I think ran as high as 3.7.
