Have recently noticed that on some Griffs I have seen they have an extension piece on the end of the tail pipe. My question is why?

Maybe because they wanted to add a shiny bit of trim to hide the rust? Or perhaps hoping that carrying the exhaust further back will reduce the quantity of soot left on the bodywork (fat chance).

Precats had them as standard. I think the 500s did not. Accordingly I think the 500 tailpipes are slightly longer.
