What would be the problems on putting 7 inch wide wheels on the back of the Griff? Assuming I can get a suitable offset (or I may even have to use spacers and longer better wheel bolts), the only issue I can see is that a 245 width tyre won't fit on a 7 inch wide wheel.

Presumably the handling wouldn't be overly compromised by running 205 front 225 rear? I believe Chims run this config.

early 500s run this tyre config, 7J fronts & 7.5J rears.

You'd need narrower tyres. Would you downgrade the brakes and put a restrictor on the engine while you're at it? hehe

I run 225 & 245 with 16" Estorils all round ....
