Electric windows

If the window is already up does the electric motor stall if you keep your finger on the switch or is there a current limiter or something in the cicuit? come on you electrical boffins, help!! cheers, John.

Yes there is a current limiter, the wiring ! It has been covered here many times, i even descibed how to add relays just before the wiring goes into the doors. I will try and find the link for you.

I've carried out the mod you describe using relays, works great thanks.

Is there some way of incorporating an auto function into the circuit like modern cars so you could just press the down button once and let go to drive the window all the way down ?

Mine has auto close, part of the Meta alarm i believe, maybe Carl Baker can tell you.Make sure you tell him you have modded yours as the current sensing part would not now. You can cancel it for roof down parking, i think a roof down car with windows up, looks daft ! I modded mine so they drop a few mm to open the door.

I wished i could find the time and nerves to start on your regular window mod, i'm not even thinking about "Uber" mods like window dropping. I know you have little time left at the moment David, i hope you get more time to spare in the future. I believe there's a market for your electronic gadgets, things like the "2 Speed window mod" would be a winner, i would certainly get one. Combine that with the "Drop window a few mm mod", cool.
