It started off a as a simple repspray, but since I had popped a few bodies off I thought I may as well give the chassis a quick clean up while the body was away been painted.
One thing led to another so I decided to strip it completely and give it the full once over.
You can see the New Zealand climate has been pretty kind to the 96 chassis, however I did'nt think it gave the rest of the car justice, the interior is as new and engine rebuilt around 10,000 km's ago.

Back from the powdercoaters after been acid dipped and phosphate treated.

Lots of other powdercoating, right down to the door hinges and new urethane bushes.

New bolts nylocks and washers, and a few bits and pieces that recieved new plating/suspension packers, door strickers, etc

All parts stripped checked and cleaned,or replaced.New bearings, balljoints, rod ends, etc, etc

Fabricated chassis waiting for the body, freshly powdercoated arb's and bracket's new ap discs and red stuff pads,Goodridge lines, reconditioned shocks regassed to a Ohlin setting we dynoed.

Got rid of the droplink bolts and spacer washers and replaced with cap screw's and chims.

A few more pics

Hopefully dropping the engine in this weekend after detailing it,and body next week, then plenty of new goodies to fit after that.

Sneak preview freshly painted pre having the underside done,,still waiting for a cut which should bring out a new kind of clear coat for extreme depth.
Guess the colour,I think its a first for a Griff.

A serial car restorer's dream - but make sure you put the front tyres back on the right way round or is that a southern hemisphere thing!
Don't recognise the colour - is it Down Under Silvery Blue?

Thanks Fella's
Maggit,This is a NZ new car so came in pre our silly 2000 legislation.
Cost wise hasn't been that bad(haven't added it up)however timewise has been a killer, lost earning's from lack of input into my company, resentment from business partners and girlfriends,I don't think a tiver would have it any other way...biggrin
PS,Your way out with the colour, its been used on tiv's before.

So, once this is finished you'll clearly be at a loss for something to do ... Just PM your address and I'll ship mine down-under so that you may continue what is obviously your vocation. There'll be a beer or two in it for you. wink

Seriously though ... bow
