oil capacity and fans fuse
Discussion
Just done an oil change on the griff 4.3 and it has taken 6litres, whereas the manual and owners handbook stipulate 5litres?Is one of them hiding in the filter?
Ive also replaced the fans, recored the radiator, SS pipes, filled up with antifreeze and distilled water. What a difference.
I have only wired in one of the fans for the moment, whilst I try to figure out a fuse sizing issue. Prior to doing the work both fans operated successfully using a 25A fuse. It only blew once in 30 months. from what I read a 40A fuse is required. Can anyone advise why mine ran successfuly with the 25.
Cheers.
Hi Graham, Is that 3 years since you have had the Griffith now..how time flys.
As Mr Spend says they always take more than the 5 litres, around 6 is the norm and has been everytime I have done mine.
I also thought you would have had 2x 25a or 20a for the fans, Thought theyonly went to one in the 500's ( probably wrong though ) 40a was used then.

Thanks for the oily advise. As far as the fans go,im pretty sure I only have the one, unless the other is hiding in the filter again. I will follow this up this weekend.
Yup ive now had the car three most enjoyable years and its been as good as gold. Renewed the MOT today, Phewww - through topcats. The suspense is worse than when having teeth pulled.
It's 6 litres for the oil.If you have seperately fused fans, then the spec in the TVR handbook is 25Amp,if you only have one fuse for both fans, then you need a 40Amp.If you only have one fuse and relay for your fans, then i would thoroughly recommend converting to individual circuits for each.If you really cant be bothered to do this, then at least make sure your single relay is rated to 40Amp minimum
