How much does it cost for a replacement ECU?

lots of threads have hinted at the costs, but can anyone give a clear indication of both how much it costs & what is involved/ who you would recommend to replace it.
The reason that i ask is that I have collected a set of upgrades to install (tripple throttle's, bosch injectors whilst the dollor is cheap .....), and rather than remapping eveytime the better idea (someone elses better idea from here!) it does seem clear that replacing the lucas ecu is the way to go. i sounds great removing the AFM & making it smoother and better power delivery.
Really interested in knowing both the cost & implications 'cop out' by getting someone recommeded to install, what is really involved for working it out myself. And of course which ECU to go for.
