have now joined the site after being an observer for a few months...
in the process of refurbishing a 4.0 griff precat..
done the dash and electrics and have at present let the car stay with a lovely garage for the tuning to be done...
hopefully get it back friday for its new hood and carpets...
would be pleased to hear from any local griff owners...

Welcome on board. Don't forget the Griff Growl as the must attend event of the year.
FFG
Nice one Wargriff. Me, James (Cornish Boy) and Big Frank'll pick you up on the way to the Growl in August then (Friday 17th am). A30 becoming a nice fast piece of road now.
What colour is this car of yours? There's a definite trend for Moonraker Black down our way you know. You'll have to come over to the Penventon Hotel (Redruth) for a meet-up with the Cornwall Sports Car Club.

my griff is british racing green (cureton green im told)
sadly today i have been told that the missfire between 3500rpm and 4500rpm is due to the engine needing to be replacedand as i dont know anything about engines i cant comment.. they mentioned that the cam maybe worn and one valve may be leaking? 26% was mentioned...
any advice would be nice

i had thought that the colour only made a car faster if you were playing your music loud....but i only have boyracers to compare to...and i dont think they do a bad colour for a griffith, its all about the beautiful curves, the way the twin pipes leap from the underside and stradle the haunches, how the bonnet sits inside the flowing wings...and how when you look at it/or sit in it (running or not) you smile and think of the days gone by when kids looked and yelled...mine is the most beautiful of things, even in its present state..i have had countless comments from both lovers of the marque and the usual doom and gloom merchants..and you know what...i dont care one little bit...because its mine...
and when it starts..:-) wow..the noise is amazing...you cant explain the feeling to boy racers who tune the exhaust note via halfords, but your neighbours will always love you for going to work early..and on good sunny days they retract the moaning and want a ride...
i mbecame a fan when a nice man let me sit in the passenger seat of a 450 seac...it will never be forgotten..wow..but then i saw the griff and all was right in the world...no more bland looks or boring views..just pure lines and curves...
and so what if it breaks down...thats what garages are for...
that said...i have now found the engine is loosing compresion in the crank case via a probably due to it running lean, as the fuel pressure regulator has not been working correctly. (this is what the nice men at the garage have said)
so now my car will be travelling to get its new hood and carpets at a later date...

Don't be down Wargriff. You'll soon be tearing around in a car propelled by a spankin' new motor. You don't wanna know what I'm spending at the moment. . . . . and it's all stuff I don't even need. I can be a right Tosspot sometimes!Jeffsy: I'll see what I can do. I'm hoping for about five coming from deepest South West on the Friday: me, James and Big Frank are deff's!
welcome Wargriff. Hope you get things sorted before the growl. my first growl last year and let me tell you, it really is worth the effort. great bunch of people, good cars and a top barbeque! Would be exceleent to get a 5 car convoy going up from Cornwall.
mark, if you are near St.Ives we are practically neighbours, I'm between PZ and St. Ives.
