does anyone know a good place to get a 4.0 v8 pre cat engine...the prognosis has not been good...the old one is loosing compression through a cylinder...

so easy option is to put a new engine in ..... will the 5 ltr fit straight in or will there be complications??

Get it sleeved?

Better to have your own engine reworked as that way you have a known good unit again. You could spend a lot of money on a s/h engine and still end up with a dog.

Peninsula just outside Exeter
TVR Power
Castle Race Engines
V8 Developements

Not in any order of preferance, but a good place to start.
Local TVRCC might be a source of recommendation of local specialist
Bell Hill Garage (breakers) are also worth investigation

Another vote for Richard at Dulfords TVR or TVR CAR PARTS in Cullompton they have just put my engine back together from a bootfull of parts, my car was in a sh*tty mess after another garage cocked it up.
And another vote for Jamie at Castle Race Engines.

Both these guys would do an excellent jobthumbup
