960 miles to Le Mans and back and the car ran like a beauty. 2 hours stuck in crawling M25 traffic back home and the engine temp never rose above 80 deg. Just a sore left foot. Fuel bill not too bad either. Testament to a brilliant car. Thanks to the care and attention from Jamie at Castle Race Engines and Steve/Craig at Guiglelmi Motorsports. First class. Hope all the other griffs fared well.

Mine too was a joy to drive. The engine really is lovely and smooth. When I had the bonnet up after checking the oil and it was just ticking over even Seasider commented, and for once not taking the pee, your engine's a lot quieter than mine.

I think a lot is down to the general care and attention that Talkwrench gave it a few weeks back, cleaning all connections, new Castle Race Engines leads and a general proper tune up. The temp ran at about a steady 85-90 and no trouble with the long traffic jams at all.

Another benefit was with the rain requiring the roof on, you really get to listen to the engine .... sounds just like a slightly better mannered Le Mans Corvette biggrin

Only trouble is, I now have to give it a damn good clean and get all the stickers off before a potential buyer comes to view it on Friday night!

1000 miles for me. Ran all the way down, through the UK on Wednesday and France on Thursday in monsoon conditions and most of the way back too.
TBH the drive down is a blur now, but here's my journey back.
Sunday: 5hrs to get to the north side of Rouen, and sat for an hour in the Peage traffic jam we all seem to have hit.
Monday: 2hrs to the Boulogne ferry. 4hrs to home in Nottingham.

My failures this weekend:
Top steering UJ needed tightening (thanks Johno bow) - although I'll replace it now I'm back as the splines don't look great.
Speedo stops working every so often then starts again. I had this the last time I was out in really heavy rain so there's a connection getting wet somewhere I reckon.

This is my 3rd Le Mans in the Griff and it's not missed a single beat yet.
My passenger was 6ft tall and about 16 stone. He's absolutely raved about the car; the noise, the stares as you start the engine or drive past, how comfortable the seats are and the carrying capacity it has for a small sports car.
Oh, and he's mightily impressed at the comerarderie us TVR owners have and our knowledge of our cars.

I cloud9 my Griffith

You're back then Mike. byebye Hope you had a great (if damp) time.

I'll call you later to arrange when I can come over again. The weather's not looking too clever at the mo, so maybe leave it a day or so ...

Fantastic run for me as well 1272 miles and 23mpg. 1 litre of oil.

Faultless bounce and nothing more than expected after the care lavished by Heath Briggs and Paul Forrest.

Sorry, I never noticed the gauntlet thrown down.

scratchchin but I do remember helpfully suggesting that your "rattles like a bag of spanners" might be connected to the amount of muck that gets blasted out of your right exhaust every time you hoof it . . . although I must say, your left bank rallied splendidly to do itself proud all over the front of a certain big orange road block hehe

yes, it is...i've driven twice from my home southern italy to my working place northern spain with my griffith 500 (always open, even at night), exactly 2.850 kms, all done with a smile in the face, in 2 days and a few hours...
last summer instead i drove back from northern spain to my home in italy with my cayenne s and got asleep a few times on the motorway, spent twice as much and arrived home with my bones in pieces...smash

Well it was the first time I have any woes ( nearly wrote whores hehe) in th eLast 5 year times i have taken the Griffith down to Le Mans. One was some unexplained Stuttering at around 80-100 mph on the way down near Alecon when the Rain was terrential...which disappeared when Dry. Could have been the same prob as Johnos here[ since i have put the K and N in .

Other thing was when i went to Arnarge At around 0130-0430 Returned to the car park and found i had no Brakes yikes thought some scum had cut my lines. Drove back to camp with what little brakes i had and Handbrake( yes this tvr one does work) Found out when we got the wheels up on the SUnday morning just before the heavens opened and after only 4 hours kip that it was ill fitting Braids that had slowely leaked.

So all in all 5 Years 2 probs one of which was probably my fault for not double checking .

AHA more mad griffers

I drove from scotland to le mans then back via normandy to see the beaches etc - covered 1450 miles and once the little hiccup ( on the A1 only 200 miles from home and fixed thanks to Steve at boroughbridge after some hasty phonecalls to the chaps at track v road ) i had a trouble free trip with one litre of purest evian and a litre and a half of the black stuff all that was needed.

I hope no one saw us in the 118 griff whilst we were wearing our wigs etc although the french gendarme who kindly asked me to blow into the bag admitted he did so because of the french looking tache on the bonnet SACREAU BLEU !!!!

fantastic car and all the better after the guys at track v road have sorted out all my bushes and running gear -

Only problem is now i need a new windscreen again ! thats two years in a row maybe the insurance company will stop me being covered for screens in le mans week !!!

see ya all

As you walked from your place past the shower block towards the bridge that goes over to the circuit and stands ... just as you were about to turn right to walk the final 100 yards to the bridge we were right there ... massive winnebago in front of most of the tents smile
