Is this supposed to be a push in for 'on' and then push out for 'off' type concern like the other lights or is it electronically latched momentary switch???

Mine does not stay in or on - if you see what I mean???

your switch is on its way. my main head light switch does this from time to time. If you press the button and allow it to flick out rapidly a few times, it corrects itself on mine.

Some of the switches dont show too much in/out movement - but work correctly. You do realize the fog (1 light wink ) will prob only come on when dipped beam is on.

Odd. With the lights on I seem to have the rear lights lit up nicely...along with the left hand side rear fog light on permanently. You press and hold in the switch on the panel the right hand fog light comes on.

Take your finger off the button and the right fog light goes out again and it dosen't latch.

Something astray?

That sounds kind of like the switch may be wired up incorrectly - I always need a meter to figure which halves of the switch do what wink

My money would be on the left hand bulb having been put in at 180 degrees to where it should be and thus the 21w filament is illuminated rather than the 5w with the sidelights on. It shouldn't be possible to do this because the bayonet type lugs are offset on either side of the bulb but you'd be surprised how often I've seen people do it....

It sounds like the switch is knackered and that's why the RHS fog only comes on when you hold the switch in. My dash illumination switch was the same when I got the car. I'm sure somebody will be along soon with the Maplin part number for the replacement switch?

Hope this helps!

I'm afraid you guess correctly AFAIK. I couldn't even get round the back of the dash lights switch from the footwell...

Was the bulb thing as suspected?

Since I have had the car back to Sunny Wales it hasn't stopped pissing it down! I can look at it through the window but thats about it I am afraid.

Quite frustrating....

When the weather does break however then its out with the park switch on the wipers, out with the alarm, pull all the electrics apart and put 'em all together again properly.. Done it on the 'S', done it on the 350i and done it on the 450SE and now doing it on the Griff. TVR's hey ho ;-)

Turned out to be the incorrect bulb in the left hand side it was a E9 and not an E19 type. Changed it and it works OK.

Now I gotta figure out how to get the dash off and change the switch...
