I got a trickle charger with crocadile type clamps on the ends of the + and - leads. Where is the best/easiest place to attach this to the Griff??

Could I chop the ends off and connect it to the fag lighter socket?

Yes, definately the easiest way.
Leave the drivers window down 10mm(if roof is on) and charge away !

I ran a twin core cable under the carpet, through the access panel behind the passenger door and over the rear wing into the boot, leaving about 6ft of cable in the boot. Then reattached the accumate plug to the cable. Oh, I also put a lump of white electrical tape around the end so I can find it in the dark.

One advantage of having it wired like this which I find really useful is you have a permanent, good quality source of +ve and -ve for electrical fault finding.

I always put the car into the garage nose first so the accumate is attached to the garage wall near the boot.

i know you will anyway but just a reminder check the cigarette lighter has the centre pin as the pos and the outer as the neg before connecting IIRC someone mentioned on here awhile ago that some came from the factory the other way around. which may cause problems if you dont check
sorry to state the obvious

The lighter socket is held in place by a thread on it’s body and a bit that screws on the inside. If or rather when it all comes undone it is a right pain to get at and more importantly leaves a live wire dangling around inside the door. The point I am getting to is when you put the plug in and take it out take care not to keep twisting it on an “undo” direction. Get in the habit of twisting it clockwise.

Well, I have no power to the ciggie lighter at all, and the mirror switch does not work and the mirror joystick is as dead as a dodo.

I have checked the fuses and these all seem fine, the internal light isn't working either on the header rail. Fuses seem fine though as well.

Any ideas??? before I go taking the door apart....
