Had these on my car for the past two years because they produce two strips of light on each bank on side lights so you can actually see them from more than twenty paces in the dark.
They stopped making them around three years ago and are now quite rare yes so much so that the last set that was on Flea bay about six months ago i snapped up as a spare set for about £90 and i will keep an eye on these unless Jeffsy wants them.

Jeffsy,

Long time since Eurohoon !

I have to say, leave your Griffith alone ! I can understand the aftermarket wheels, however, quad exhaust and bling rear lights, it doesn't do it any favours.

Each too their own of course, and who am I to criticise, but you did ask what people thought on a previous thread.

I am a purist, and there are few mod's for wheels etc that I see on these forums that I like. RL7's on a Griffith look fantastic in 17", however, 18" wheels, of any design, look too much with rubber band tyres. Whatever their owners say the ride quality must be awful . . . . I suggest they don't do enough to know anyway.

Quad exhaust just says Max Power, when the car doesn't need it. I can understand wanting louder exhausts, but multiple pipes ?

The beauty of the Griffith is the fact that it doesn't need jewellery, it is every man's fantasy woman, naked. It didn't need earings and it's belly button pierced to make you get wood.

Therefore I fail to understand the need to put blingy rear lights on the back of it as well.

However, every man is different, each to their own and I think individuality is frowned upon my most people, so keep up the work, but it is not for me. A bit like the Carisma Cerberra, fantastic design and execution, awful looking thing. Yours isn't that bad by a long shot smile

I am only putting forward a view, I am not being critical. I remember your griffith being the only TVR at Eurohoon that had no trouble while Ted and I bumped started the Cerberra round Europe whilst applying liberal quatities of gaffer tape to keep it together !

You don't need to reward it with earing though wink

Hiya johnno - yes indeed, coming up 2 years now!!

Once the engine went in Sept I had no option but to replace it and did so with a non standard. I know its a V8 but not quite off the shelf! On that basis my originality went too. Therefore I have now started to upgrade the car both in terms of safety and also in terms of what I believe, looks. If the Griff was to be re made now - what would it look like these years later?

Since the photos in the last thread I have now added a roll bar and will have bonnet vents by this time next week. The lights, rollbar and vents are all required - lights and rollbar for safety and vents for excessive heat. The 'zorsts I personally reckon are not at all MP but complement the car ( I had to get a new set anyway so why not...) and the wheels are generally regarded as some of the best around. I cant comment on the ride on the wheels per se as I had the geometry done as well at the same time plus I needed new dampers due to the old ones cracking. What I would say on the wheels/suspension set up is that it is now at the best it has ever been handling wise - very precise, doesnt ground ever and inspires confidence

The key here though is that I personally think that the changes I have made are improvements. From my p.o.v they are the business!

As you say I know you arnt being critical and I also agree that individuality is great. I love the look of the standard car and I love the look of mine.

There are changes that I certainly would not do - fr example I love the wooden dash so would never change that for changes sake - but other areas can be improved imho without losing the beauty and integrity of the Griff.

All the above is imho obviously smile

Good to hear from you johnno - are you Growling this year??

Graham

Did I get hold of the wrong end of the stick, or are you no longer interested in Webbs offering?

Neither the Max Power or Pimply Arse 'upgrades' are better than the original IMO.

Would entail a re spray of the rear end which is not cheap in Rosso Pearl - in fact Webbs didnt even want to do my front lights as they could only guarantee a 75% match ! Interesting scratchchin as the guys who did my bonnet gouge and are doing my vents can guarantee 100% (but they do do loads of work on Fezzas and Massers...)

Just sniffing around thats all - I did promise that I would stop once the vents were done... rolleyes

Note a fan of those myself either, but have you considered the pepperpot rears which are not blended in,ie like the last 100 had? This way you also wouldn't need to have the whole rear end painted either,i would think?

The original ones look far better if you remove all the inverted lettering off them.

Its OK chap(ess)s Im not going for them - I just wanted to guage opinion. I agree wth a mate who has them that they probably look better on a darker car than mine.

If I went for anything it would be the last 100 type but not the slot in replacements, it would be the fully blended but this would necessitate a respray which is pushing it at the moment...

barreti - wise words from Deb - and that is exactly where I am now after all the work that has been done....

cheers thumbup

Phew!
Your car's cracking as it is Jeffsy - what you've had done thus far has (mostly) been in keeping and things like bolt-on-bling are 'gilding the lilly' so far as I'm concerned. IMHO of course. wink

confused By your own admission you've never driven a Griff on 18" wheels yet you believe your opinion is more important than those of the owners of cars fitted with such wheels? And what on Earth do you mean "They don't do enough to know"? Sounds vaguely insulting or extremely arrogant? scratchchin

Car mods are a very personal thing...I personally love the simplicity of the Griff design and would be reluctant to change anything that would affect the original "cosmetic appeal"...not very exciting am I? nerd
