Door Card red reflector..

What are these off and are they meant to light up?

In the process of taking the door apart to fix a number of electrical issues I noticed that the red reflector at the back of the door was cracked.

What are they off?? As I need to get a replacement.

Also, after looking at a few pictures I have noticed that other peoples recess is not right through the door the reflector is simply surface mounted, mine has a hole behind it as if something was poking through the door. I have also found a live 12v supply that goes to this point but no light gubbins.

Anybody else's light up??

They are off series 3 xj Jags,never heard of any with lamps before.

No they are purely reflectors no lights. Maybe a previous owner was having a go at trying to power them.
As the previous poster says they're Jag items often on ebay and on Jag part sites

I known that Simon at Leven has been experimenting with adding these reflectors to his after market items. Pretty sure that if the demand was there, that he would make some - up to their usual high standards

As far as I can recall, I have always seen the door reflector surface mounted an dnever illuminated. Hope this helps?

I'm struggling to find these reflectors. Do you have any more detail on what to look for and where? I've browsed ebay and a few Jag part sites with no luck. I don't want to go down the breakers route, since they will go brittle over time on any car.

While £38 is small change in the grand scheme of TVR maintenance, it's taking the piss when it comes to replacing a small piece of plastic - sorry Leven.

TVR Car Parts sent me a couple a year or so ago for a few quid - it'd be worth giving them a call to see if they still have them.

The link on ebay I had doesn't show them as being available at the moment.
They're off the XJ40 IIRC.

I have just spoken to Ian from ITSTVR as per previous link on another matter.
He confirms he has 4/5 reflectors still, ring him or order through his website at £4.05 +VAT & P and P.

Well they are at the moment, but when Ian runs out he re-orders another 1000, so he should usually have some.
