WHAT HAPPENED TO L10 BFV
Discussion
Hi
Yes it would be great to see it restored to its former glory as the 1993 Griffith 500 press launch car.
I have the Top Gear item and many others on DVD and it contains all the historical data necessary for a future TVR enthusiast to replicate exactly this car, even down to the red induction hose, etc.
As Tiffany Dell said in that test 'This is NOT a car for wimps' just before letting that distinctive RV8 roar up the road. Classic!
Restored as the 1993 launch Griffith 500 it would have so much provenance and be a true piece of TVR history.
Let's hope we see that one day.

But as the AJP was originally meant to go in the Griff I for one can't wait to see it running in this form again.

Hi Guys
Don't get me wrong I have great respect and admiration for Mike and his mission to create an AJP-engined Griffith - after all that's what Peter Wheeler initially intended for the Griffith upgrade in 1993. I wish Mike and his 'crew' at TCS and Castle good luck with this project and would love to see and experience the finished product.
It's just my humble opinion that this particular Griffith deserves to be restored as the press release Griffith 500 - after all it's got all that provenance and I have never seen any provenance for it as an AJP Griffith. I would be very interested in any verifiable provenance that exists.
Best regards
Jay

SAW THIS EX SHOW CAR THE ONE DRIVEN BY TIF ON TOP GEAR FOR SALE SOME TIME AGO AS A RESTORATION PROJECT [WAS INTERESTED FOR A FUTURE PROJECT}
ANYONE KNOW WHATS HAPPENED TO IT NOW ,AND WHAT SPEC IS IT GOING TO BE REBUILT TO RV8 OR AJP
Hi Phill,i now own this car and am having it restored as i speak,it's in the very capable hands of Trackcar Solutions and Castle Race Engines .Current state of play is that the chassis is restored and built up,and the car is off to the exhaust manufacturers on Monday,so that the manifolds and system can be made. The griff will be restored with the AJP V8.Im hoping it will be ready(running and driving) for Rockingham or the Growl, but it's running very close at the mo,and if i cant get a bit of time to do a 'shakedown' before then, then i will not be taking it.ANYONE KNOW WHATS HAPPENED TO IT NOW ,AND WHAT SPEC IS IT GOING TO BE REBUILT TO RV8 OR AJP
After these events the paint and interior will be done,i have a trimmer lined up,but i'm still searching for someone to do the paintwork,as it's a candy apple colour.
I'm hoping the car will be finished completely by the end of October. If you'd like to know any more, then your more than welcome to mail me.Cheers,Mike
Hi Mike.
Pleased to see your project is progressing well.
I can't wait to see & hear it.
With the weather we've been having I've thought it wise to postpone my little job. Maybe see you (and Mel) at the Growl?
PS. I hope this topic doesn't deteriorate again ... I think we all know each other's opinions about what to do with this car.

,yes we'll see you at the growl, and we'll sort that little job for you
.Dont worry about the topic deteriorating,i've learnt not to have to justify things to those who are out to purely try to discredit(i just ignore now),but if anyone with a geuine interest has questions then i'm always prepared to help provide as much info as poss
.Take care mate, see you soonHi AJP
I am genuinely interested in the history of this Griffith. Can you give me some background to its life before and after it appeared as the press launch Griffith 500? When was it a AJP8 and a Speed6 engined mule for example? Etc, etc.
If you would like it I may be able to get you a copy of the Top Gear test and other items.
Regards
Jay

What happened to your old storming engine Mike?
Not heard about it going into anything else yet...or has Jools blagged it in P-Ex.
It's still in my other Griff, and wont be going anywhere until the car is sold later this year, were talking about two different cars here Andy! Not heard about it going into anything else yet...or has Jools blagged it in P-Ex.
Mr Maggit,i've contacted Gerbil about the respray, and the gang at Surface and design will be giving me a quote,i'd just like to get a few quotes from different places though.
