I read the camshaft and followers plus timing gear is likley to be the first job an a car with higher milage. Are the heads and valves another concern and how strong is the bottom end, liners and pistons. With higher milages how easy is it to get the car to pass the emissions test

I know of one 4.0HC RV8 that has covered over 122.000 miles without being overhauled.

Not had too many problems with mine. Put it's first new cam in at 104k, plus reground the exhaust valves as they were beginning to leak a little.

No problems with the emissions test now - it even does a CAT fast idle test without a cat smile (but not a natural idle unfortunately frown )

Ours has got 85.000 Miles on it and nobody knows how. It seems to eat up the miles.
Still rocking.
We don't do very short trips (fe getting rolls from the super market are a no no)
and warm it up properly after cold start.

hi ,have got 80000 on mine now.does still pull very well, had no major probs, always changew oil after 3500miles.are looking forward to my next 80000 in it.if shit hits the fan and it does need a rebuild ,its not to big a prob as cost not crazy and plenty of goiod v8 builders here in the uk.also the griffs only way just over a tonne ,so engine is not very often stressed unless may be its used for track days..i personaly woulkd go for a car with average miles rather than very low ..its when not in use probs normaly start..

My car's camshaft and rockers were FUBAR at 33k miles.

Then again, the main dealer that serviced the car fed it 0W40 oil all it's life - may have something to do with it...?
