It would be unfair for me to say if it was easy or not i guess,as it's not me doing the work!It has been made a little easier by the fact that the car had already had the ajp in before(engine mounts etc),but that isn't anything that couldn't be got around on any other griff.
I cant see why it would be any more difficult that an LS install, and to me it makes a much better car imho. The AJP is such a great engine

Mike, just a thought but would Tuscan racer (AJP of course)exhaust manifolds fit the griff conversion?I cant see why it would be any more difficult that an LS install, and to me it makes a much better car imho. The AJP is such a great engine

No they wouldn't,im afraid. They stick out too much into the direction of the inner wing, and simply would not fit without modification.Custom manifolds aren't necesarily massively expensive, especially if your comparing to the price and quality of off the shelf 'performance' RV8 manifolds.OscarT said:
I'm sure if you spoke to Tim at ACT he could get JP in Macclesfield to make you a set for reasonable cost.
I've never been impressed with the quality of the JP stuff, and have some on my RV8 griff.I used Hayward and Scott for the AJP and the quality is in a different league, and the price is also very good

What sort of figure do H&S charge for custom set of manifolds then
. I have a set of JP ones and they are an improvement but they were not able to 'do' all the bits I wanted of them
. I'm left thinking they could be improved again but I do not want to pay the silly money.
H&S charged £1200+Vat for the manifolds, but i had a complete system done for the AJP,and it came to £1800+VAT in total,ie thats £600+VAT for the exhaust system!

I will look up H&S later thiis year/early next year when I'm ready to do phase 2 of the improvements

,the bug never leaves you does it?!I may well go back myself for 'something more sporting'
,if you know what i mean. The current manifolds are following the theme of the original TVR ones,as in the B+W photo on my profile. They still dont look the same(quite different really),as we have had to make sacrifices due to a different engine position(lower),and also some S6 bracketry in the way, which i wouldn't remove.I also went for H&S advice on different pipe size, and they've made them more equal lenth. It'll be interesting to see how they perform with Jamies engine, but i'm sure to experiment, later down the line

.What pipe sizes did you go for, I'm assuming you may have a 4-1 so your primaries may be a bit larger than I'd consider for a 4-2-1.

Did they offer technical performance advice on the bore sizes or was it more the practicalities of packaging advice

We talked to Ian(the foreman at H&S who was building the system),and he did give advice on header size and packaging.Ultimately they seem to prefer your engine builder to spec what header size is required, but in our instance the size Ian suggested was the same as Jamie advised - 1"5/8 i think, and yes,the system is 4-1.

any pictures of the project so far?
I have loads of pics, and i should have sent some to BB by now,s he wanted to put some on the griffith pages.I'll get around to it this weekend. The AJP Griff
Love the pic of the early car with the AJP in - Good if they had actually built it, so many of us would not have to be messing with engine swaps to make them really go
Gloucester - not far from my TR's - might have to see it in the flesh when finished
See how it stacks up.
Is the lump RR'd (head skimmed and what ever else they do in the RR tune?).

Col,the stock sump does fit-no problem.Engine is completely stock as far as fitting goes.
Jelly, the early car in the pic is my car!Thats why it's going back in
Your more than welcome to see it when it's on the road
.The engine is being built to Jamies Red Rose spec, which is a fair bit more'involved',shall we say, than what TVR/Power do.
