Looking at an ad. for such a car. There are no Lambda probes and no sign of the holes in the manifolds to suggest they have been blanked off. Current MOT so how? I've read that cars up till 31 July 1995 can be tested under the non cat emissions regs. but this car is newer than that. Point is the remaining MOT is short and I take it may not pass another without considerable expense!

Is it a car from, say, Jersey? Some offshore RHD models were not catted and are thus 'excused'. Presumably current/previous owner knows the SP?

It's true that TVR's up to and including the date you say need only to be tested under non cat test, which is nice smile.Perhaps the owner of the later Griff you are looking at knows a 'freindly' mot testerwink.

General concensus is that you need to find a friendly tester, that's it I'm afraid.

However, i would never buy a car like this with a short MOT. Ask the current owner to get it done as part of the price. If it's a good car it should not have any probs ... if he has a non-feline friendly tester that is smile
