Electrical gremlins

Hi guys,
For the first time today I actually thought of selling her (1630) to be precise !!!
Ive had nothing but grief with her the last month or so !!!
Well to the point - the battery was flat after leaving her 3 days, this is not uncommon have been chasing the drain for ages now but hopefully found it now (passengers side door switch at the bottom) (rubber bit missing) also had seroius water ingress to the passenger side footwell due to leaky roof last week when god decided to test his flood theory on the south west!Drove her Thursday and I lost all electrics on wootton bassett high street and i mean everything luckily nice AA man behind me so he had a quick look but coulnt work it out would put the key in and nothing then try again and had lights would turn over but wouldnt fire. Left it a while and she started up so carefully drove home with no probs. So Monday saw me taking the battery out and recharging her overnight, also went through all the fuses and relays replaced only 1 fuse though! checked ECU, OK found a loose connection on the earth wire from the battery also looked like it had been getting F%&*ing hot and perishing so sorted out a new wire and fitted it. Blanked off the vac advance to try 2 weeks with it off! went to bed...
This morning put recharged battery on, and all gremlin hell has broken loose !!! central locking is very weird, started off I would press the remote and only the lights would flash,disconnected and then reconnected the battery and immediately hit the remote and just got flashing lights, checked fuse and as I put it back in I heard the drivers door click, ok I thought, shut the passenger door and tried the remote and she locked then immediately unlocked,mmmmmm had another grovel in the footwell and when I touched the fuse box itself I could hear the door click weird. Well its got weirder now after making sure fuse box is not loose tried again and she would lock immediately unlock then lock !! so Ive got a locked car !! try the remote nothing just a flashing lighttry it again and she unlocks weird eh ? Now fired her up not good rev counter went schitzo and took a few turns but she did fire up, no probs there nice idle rate etc !! tried the hazard lights engine died, tried restarting her the first time she turned over but refused to fire, 2nd time ok, now tried the door lock switch on the dash !!! locked straight away ok I thought turned her off and shut her same probs as before, any ideas guys ??? HELP please save my sanity !!!!

This has all the hallmarks of a faulty earth. Or an intermittent extra earth, perhaps related to the water ingress? Is everthing around the fusebox/battery/footwell thoroughly dry?

Hi Cider Andy,
Just had a magners as I seriously neede it!!!! Everything seems to be pretty bone dry except for maybe the bottom edge of the trim thats still a bit damp but certainly not seriously damp and nothings touching it put some bubble wrap between it and the battery etc..

Hi guys,
just nearly killed myself!!! decided to take her out for a run see if she's any better... NO She was sweet as a nut for the first 15 mins really nice drive, then just approaching home it was like she wasnt getting any fuel revs just died off, put my foot on the accelerator and she jumped forward, got to the camp gate and she stalled and died no electrics !!! took battery off and put back on she fired up but starter not sounding at all well and rev conter doing the schitzo thing ! have put her to bed now fresh eyes in the morning I think...
