Bottom wishbone ARB mounting brackets

Bending up at the tip can happen due to repeated pounding over rough roads with hard dampers. If you mean bending up in the middle, no that's a new one on me.
Pictures can be 1000 words
Can you please can you have a look at these and tell me if this is all normal, looks a bit odd to me and the mounts do look 'added on'. Only new bits at the back have been the drop links that were replaced over a year ago, shocks and springs are standard - but won't be for long!

Of the rear ARB mounted wishbones I have seen, the plate is flat and thicker and wider..
As you say, they look like someones (not so) handy work.
Should be straight. They are flimsy bits of metal and the bolt hole through the middle leaves very little meat left in the bracket.
Mine did the same and one broke the weld off at one end, had them straightened and welded up a couple of weeks ago.
Edited to add - I see you also have the SH drop links fitted. Had mine on for about 12month before the bracket failed.

normal but not right.
the wishbones didn't have AR bars originally. these were added later on.
the very old and now weaked brackets have the SH mods ARBs by the look so there is now no give.
big stress on old kit.
I had the same and had some bigger stromnger plates welded on before powder coating.
you can see then here in the bottem left corner.

you can disconnect completely and all it will do is "soften" the back end slightly allowing a bit more roll (we do this when racing in the wet) but now it's given to a stress point it'll probably hold for ages. mine did.
best to get them redone, or put the original type ARB back in to give some slack, but to be honest, probably 60% of wishbones out there will look like that.

These do look like an afterthought and are different from the later 500 wishbones. They do look like they are not upto the job.
The original brackets frequently broke with the original drop links so they were strengthened by adding a re-enforcing lip. Then they welded a big washer to the bracket. They still broke occassionally. The most telling point was that they quickly changed the design on the Cerbera which originally used this Griff setup after the brackets and wishbones started to break. Quite common to see welded repairs. The problem was made worse because the original drop link had no articulation and twisted the bracket instead. This weakened/stressed it and caused the problem.
Fitting the original droplink to give some slack won't really help as it will try and twist the bracket. If it is weakened, this will cause it to go.
To be honest if there are no signs of cracks then there is a school of thought that says leave it and just keep and eye on it until it is convenient to fit a new bracket.

Thanks for everyones advice, I am glad to see that others think they too look substandard.
Since fitting steve's ARB links I have done a few track days which were the first for thecar (that I know of), and the handeling has been getting slightly worse on each outing. It is probably the forces from the long hard cornering on trackdays bending these rather than the links as when a link is fully loaded it probably wont make much diffreence if it is rose jointed or rubber.
I'm going to whip off the wishbones anyhow, have a fuller inspection and see if it is reparable or time to replace.
Looking about to replace, there seems to be different qualities of wishbones. Which supplier would you recommend to source strong wishbones from?
(The bracket on the monster link above looks the business!)

Hmm, I was going to fit the Steve Heath ARB drop links in winter and my brackets are the same... Has anyone tried making up some packing pieces to spread the load?
As i said no problems with mine with SH drop links but you could put a plate under or on top
might transfer more force to the weld though
ETA shape the plate so it fits under the bracket & weld both ends

I know TVR Power has just received a big batch of wishbones they had made up.
We didn't go into details, but Dom was saying they're better than original, but I don't know if that includes these brackets.
By the time yours have been modified, If the condition of yours isn't grat then you're better off with new one's.
Fit polybushes too, you will feel the improvement.
