how about offering s/steel wishbones ?
and as a deluxe option rosejointed race spec ones ?

also s/steel exhaust systems, as current ones a rather pricey.

hi Mark, glad you like the look of the decat pipe, did you get to hear pasco`s or my car at rockingham this weekend?

the wishbones are something I have considered after talking to dulfords, as apparently stainless ones were used on the tuscan race cars, but the cost of steel ones are so cheap that making them in stainless just wouldn`t be viable, as they would end up costing nearly 4 times more than a steel one, and a steel one will last a very long time if looked after!

exhaust systems are very reasonably priced, as again stainless is a very expensive metal at the moment, as the darned chinese are buying all the damned stuff, so unless it is a custom style job that you can`t get off the shelf so to speak, then it would be difficult to compete with whats already available on the market at the moment.

ideabut keep the suggestions and ideas coming, its good to get suggestions from fellow owners and enthusiasts.thumbup

On another subject, several people on here were asking me about an air scoop for the pre 96 cars with the round air filter, well I had a good look over Flipflop`s griff at the weekend, thanks Paul, and there is no way that one of these will fit onto the car without having a severe restriction on the air feeding the radiator, so thats a big no no on that one I`m afraid.

Don't you mean pre cat front end cars Clive, as 93-95 pre serps have the same front end as 500, not sure on air filter arrangement though..

Not sure if it comes within your area of expertise but I would really like a tonneau cover of some description. Personally I find it such a ball ache to get the roof in the boot and it takes up so much room when it's in there that I only take it off if I think I can get there and back without it raining. Even some sort of shower cover that you could fit over the cockpit whilst the car is parked would be useful.

Also a slightly less functional looking roll bar. I fully understand that they have to be structured in a certain way for them to do the job but I reckon a lot of people would like a hooped arrangement rather than a metal bar.

Clive's not the man for doing a toneau cover - they tend to catch fire when he tries to weld them together... hehe

Of course, I do have a cunning plan for some these cloth things people are wanting, although it won't be done in time for the Growl.

youre quite right Paul, I stand correctedhehe

hi Christian, wavey

the roof is something that I would love to have myself, but is not in my area of expertise, Moosehunter can supply you with info on the 2 piece roof, and Barreti has a thread on here about a folding cover of some sort as well.

does anyone know if the chimp roof is the same as the griff??

Hhmm, roll bars are interesting, but a little concerned around the safety and insurance issues that may be involved, a nice stainless hoop arrangement, either 2 singles or one right across the car would be interesting, but would have to be classed as purely cosmetic, will have to investigate the legal issues, I wouldn`t want someone to have a fatal crash and blame it on the roll bar.yikes

Clive, how about a bracket that is held in place by the headrest "shaft" and the seat belt can thread through.
This would stop the seat belt cutting into your neck.

Clive - it would certainly be classed as cosmetic unless you got FIA approval...

This doesn't mean we can't design it to be a structural thing to stop chassis twist.

interesting stuff, let me get the growl out of the way, as I will have a trade stand rhis year and have a few bits to get ready to take, then I`m off on holiday for a couple of weeks, then I`ll have a look at the roll bars and the seat belt bracket, both sound like good ideas, that seat belt in the neck is a real pain!
Be sure to pop over at the growl and say hello.smile

Had a look at this with my old Griff, it would be possible to access the void between the inner and outer wing and take the air from there, it would be cooler and you could route the air from the front filter to the void if you wanted.

I also thought about a rain sensor that would alert you if you left the roof down and nipped off for a pint or summat. It could be left on the seat and would activate a bleeper in your pocket with a range of 30 metres or so.

I have these (rubbish) brackets fitted to the upper seat belt anchor by the previous owner. While these look and perform badly they might help with the design process. I don't suffer with the seat belt in my neck but it's a real pain to reach the belt to put it on yes

Stop smoking!

Seriously, the seatbelt extender would be great but it would be best placed on the seatbelt bolt (can't remove our headrests). Looked at a Cerb and can't remember why, but it wouldn't work. Peugeot 206 has one and this won't work either.
