Silicon induction hose
Discussion
Hi all,
I'am looking at up rating my induction hose from the 'hover' hose to a silicon one as I have my nice new AFM heat shield to fit (thx clive hope sales improved after being the 1st one on Sat!). I remember an earlier thread saying that ACT do a kit but only in black, and being a awkward beggar I want mine in blue to match the rest of my hose's. Just checked the hover hose ID which is 76mm or there abouts and found some nice blue hose on demon tweeks to fit here which is 4 ply construction. Questions are;
Anyone know if this hose is ridged enough for the application and flexible enough to do the swan neck near the air filter or should I go for some moulded bends there ?
Will a 1m hose be long enough, I have laid a tape over the existing hose and it appears ok but only just, anybody done this and know for sure or have a old hose laying about they could put a tape on?
The clip on connection between the AFM and the metal part which the hose attaches to seems a tad on the floppy side and I was a little concerned that I may be leaking air in, would it be worth sorting a rubber washer/ring or some sort of silicon to try and seal the joint better or is it not worth worrying ?
I assume that the consensus would be that the hose should have some sort of heat shielding also where it runs near the exhaust system.
TIA
Tim.

hi Tim, yes trade did pick up, nice of you to get the ball rolling
the straight hose will not bend without collapsing when trying to get the shape needed to allow the bonnet to close, but I think someone like samco do a blue hose shaped to do the job, I`m not 100% certain, but maybe someone will be along shortly who may know better.
