Instrument Panel Lights

Got my car at last hurrrayyyy
I have a new speedo which works like a conventional speedo
(not the lovely backward working pre-cat one)
BUT its got a white light .... all my other instruments are green.....
can you get green bulbs ??? or something to turn the bulb green... remebering the bulb is inside the speedo.
It annoys me small attention to detail would make everything seem so much better.
Cheers

This picture is of the bulbs in my Griff.

The ones with the green caps however only came out of the clock - and a spare clock I had.
This may be how they created your green bulbs hoov.
You could get some white bulbs and paint them I suppose.

I went through this with the wedge.
Some bright spark said paint them green with nail varnish.
I now know he was taking the piss but I was young & gulable at the time.
I could never bring myself to bring the dash out again to sort it out.
The Griff I now have has plenty of inst lights either out or the wrong colour and the dash will be coming out soon to correct this. I will be interested to learn the propoer way to do it..

I looked for replacement green bulbs when I replaced the entire set of dashboard bulbs recently(ish) but couldn't find any.
In the end I went for Ring Ice Blue (the W5W bulb in the photo above) and wasted my money because they still look white but just cost twice as much. And you can't tell the clock bulb has the green cap on either - they all look the same, like a glowfly is trapped somewhere behind the dashboard.
You can paint bulbs, you just need the right stuff to do it with
such as this
or this
Sorry Hoover, I can't find you green
but with the power emitted from the dash dials I think you're wasting time and money trying to colour the bulbs. I'd just get white

Cheers lads
When I take the dash of for relaminating I will have a play about with some colured bulbs.... I guess a total replacement will be required to get the same colour tone as well.
Hmmmmm wonder what they will look like all red
white is to bright IMHO as i have no dimmer switch as this is manual over ride for the fan.

Its only a 15min job to add switches under the dash... cut a cross in the leather, carefully insert 20mm hole cutter inside leather, cut hole, trim leather, insert switch..
