Hi,
just something of interest that may help those with a misreading speedo.

My speedo was misreading and bouncing around, I reduced the gap between speedo transducer and toothed wheel to about 20 thou of an inch. The bouncing stopped and much more accurate readings. I still found the speedo misreading at higher speeds. I adjusted the gap to as close as possible (about 4 thou of an inch), but this made it worse, speedo would not read above 30 kph. Thought I was up for a new transducer. Having nothing to lose I started to increase the gap between transducer and toothed wheel, as I did the speedo readings go better. Got to about a gap of about 1 mm and now speedo readings are spot on (for revs and selected gear). Car is late 94 Griffith 500 with ETB gauges and transducer above toothed wheel on prop shaft.

Sam,
hope it helps. After adjusting mine and checking out some threads, the earlier aluminium type speed transducer (no wiring & plug) needs a gap of 1-2 mm from the toothed wheel. The later style speed transducer (long thin brass version with wiring & plug) needs to be close to the toothed wheel - 6 thou of an inch.
