Sump oil surge
Discussion
I have pointed a video camera at the pressure gauge to check for this whilst Hill Climbing and concluded all looks OK. It may be different on a circuit.
I am lead to believe that the standard sump has a basic baffle fitted and you have to be careful with some of the after market ones as they are reported to make the situation worse .
Why do you ask ?

Momentary flash of the oil pressure warning light.. Scared me most on the old Fiat - made sure oil tank was brimmed after that! Strangely seems to occur most often on zig zagging rather than long fast corners. You should only see it when you are working really hard... Normally keeping oil topped up and ensuring pickup is clean should suffice.
Having said that an Accusump is my dream solution (when I can afford one) as it also has great benefits at start up

I have experienced it on boxer engines many years ago and it hydraulically locks the engine. Un-mistakeable on horizontally opposed cylinders but I have no experience of what the symptons are on a V engine arrangement.
The reason for asking is that on a previous TD I got a missfire exiting one particular corner which would clear after a couple of corners.
Couple of month of trouble free motoring and another TD, this time same corner and mid gear change from 3rd to 4th whilst still exiting corner and engine dies. no warning just like someone has hit the kill switch whilst the clutch was still down.
Engine would not turn over on starter so I coasted straight into pit lane. Tried twice at 10mins intervals to start car and the turnover was slow and laboured (as if it was hydraulically locked (I was thinking at this point I'd blown a head gasket) left it for another 1/2 hr or so and gave one more try and it fired straight up, sounded like a bag of nails for about 2/3 secs then settled down to normal.
Took the car out and for the first few laps got a bad missfire over 4K then it cleared and ran fine. I know this could be electrical but, at the same corner on different days seemed too much of a coincidence?

Your engine won't stop due to lack of oil, it will just grind itself to pieces
. Sounds more like a spark / fuel problem and the infamous hot start as a subsequent consequence to me.

When i was referring to sump oil surge I meant when the oil washes up the barrels behind the pistons, I had no oil pressure or pickup issues that I noted.
