I've had 3 ocassions now where my car (4.3) has stalled when warm. The car engine seems to drop the rev's when my foot comes off the gas and i depress the clutch. Curiously it happened last night twice and both times the engine caught itself just before stalling a couple of times at about 500rpm before the revs flared to 1500rpm again. It would yo-yo a couple of times then stall.

Parked up for 30 mins and no sign of any re-occurance. Anyone experienced this and know what's up?

Thanks in advance

There is a list of things that can cause this - I had a situation where the engine would try and stall when coming to a stop with the clutch in when it was hot/warm. Following advice from here (very handy place) it yurned out to be the ignition amplifier, which shows signs of breakdown when warm. It was quite predictable though, as I got used to it, and the engine would 'turn itself off' when getting home. not so greta when it turns itself off at the traffic lights though!

Same thing happening to my Griff 4.0 at the moment. Tries to stall and picks up and drops again and cycles untill it stalls and runs rough when I pull away untill revs pick up. Sometimes it just suddenly dies without warning just after coming to tickover. It's really f...ing pissing me off. How did you rectify it I need to know.

Mine struggles to get going when hot and I try and start it. It starts, stalls and so on - have to keep foot on the gas for a few seconds until it settles down - stepper is clean. Happened first at the record attempt at the Rock - PITA keeping foot on accelerator all the way around and braking with handbrake, luckiliy we only got to 10mph max. - didn't want to not do it.

I get this occasionally. No problem hot or cold start, but if it's warm sometimes it can play up. It starts fine, but the idle may be really low, about 500 RPM, the ignition light flickers, and sometimes actually stalls unless I keep the revs up. If I give it the chance to settle on its own, i.e. the occasional blip to keep it running, it's like it's trying to find the right idle speed - it revs to about 1,200 RPM, down to 5-600 RPM a time or two until it settles down properly at 900 RPM. What's queer about it though, is if I turn it off, leave it for a minute or so then restart it, I have a 50/50 chance that it'll be fine with no problems which suggests to me that it's not just the temperature, but something else combined with the 'warm' temperature which may be reset with a restart.

Have any of you with the problem - it seems to be gathering a bit of a collective does this thread so I don't know who I'm addressing hehe - got a problem with your speedo?

If I drive a lot in very wet conditions my speedo stops working, and when it does the car is a complete pig at low revs, constantly trying to stall.

I think mine is something to do with water getting into electrics somewhere but because it happens so infrequently (I'm a sunny Sunday with the wind in whats left of my hair sort of person) I've not put much effort into finding the cause.

No speedo problem, unaffected by weather too in my case.
Doesn't happen so often for it to be real problem for me either - would be nice to get it sorted though.

No Ian, no speedo problems. Last time it happened was at the Rock which was dry and sunny and needed to start in quick succession - didn't do at Lidfest, Growl etc as it was left for a long period and cooled down enough.
