Anyone else have this problem at the pump? Trying to fill up with petrol, just unable to put more than about 50p worth in without the automatic stop on the pump locking. Takes bloody ages to fill and never seem to get a full tank.
Solutions anyone?

Welcome to the badly designed fuel filler system on TVR`s

It will fill if you are careful and slow, but stand back!!

It is due to having a poor or non existant fuel breather system which air locks during filling.

It can be modified but is costly as the tank has to be removed and re engineered.

Cheers

Try rotating the filler 180 degrees to what you would normally use and push right in, that works wonders for me.

The same components work fine on LRs AFIK the only difference is an additional breather to just under where the cap seals..

Is the filler on a chim different to a grif ? On the chim I place the nozzle into the filler with the handle facing into the boot, then some gentle wiggling will see it drop down to the hilt. Then fill up as normal. Sometimes it takes a few sconds of wiggling to seat it properly but it will go all the way.

Just re-read this and It sounds quite dirty....

Just for a bit of balance - I'm not bragging - but I don't get this. Fills up fine with no wiggling, jiggling or anything.

You may just be lucky LG in that the Fuel pumps you use have lowish flow rates - they do seem to vary a lot wink I even find some that click off on the Trusty Disco! The other thing may be the venting, CC blocked or near its half life, partially trapped vent pipe...

Maybe, but I get more problems with my Audi - the darn pumps keeping clicking off whenever I fill that. Having said that, the Griff gets Shell V-Power and the Audi cheapo Sainsbury's slops - so they may be filling at different rates.

I have had various results in the same garage. I now have my favourite pump & no problems (also on the level so the handbrake pretends to work !)
