Unfortunately Haynes haven’t created a manual for the Griff, “The Bible” is lacking in many respects (sorry Steve), so thank heavens for PistonHeads. Here you can share your car problems with your fellow Griff owners, get excellent advice from fellow sufferers and even search the forum for similar tales of woe and it’s this last point that I have a problem with. Let me explain….

Have you ever had a problem with your car and searched the forum for owners experiencing similar woes? Found a promising link describing your symptoms exactly. You read on and you start getting excited, then the suggestions for a cure start appearing. Soon you’re sat on the edge of your seat, the guy with the problem says, “thanks to everyone” and “I’ll try out your suggestions” and by now you’re crazily going, “YES! YES!”… and then that’s it… the end of the thread… No “I tried this and it didn’t work” or “I tried this and it solved the problem”

So come on guys, if you’ve had a problem and then got it sorted, share the results with the rest of us. Share the good news, put a smile on our faces help us focus on trying the things that have worked in the past. Stop me losing my hair (I haven’t got that much left to lose!).

what a good topic, I know exactly how you feel but also have probably been guilty of commiting the same crime myself in the pasthehe
I think a lot of people fix the problem, but don`t give the end result in case someone who appears as a pistonheads expert comes along afterwards and tells them the`ve gone the wrong way about doing things, but that isn`t to say that the so called expert is right either!
Its a learning curve for a lot of us, but if it wasn`t for the internet and p/hds, I`m pretty certain that I wouldn`t have a griff sat on my drive, where would we be without a site where all kinds of questions are asked and answered, pictures posted, and valuable contacts made with before unheard of suppliers.

I`m gonna p*** off now, starting to get all emmotional.

Tis true...the number of times advice is given, and the op can't be bothered to reply.

I usually post a "what was it then" if I've ventured a suggestion..

True, but there are one or two notable exceptions. Have you noticed people like Barreti digging out months or years old threads every now and again with updates and/or solutions? A case in point being this one. We can all learn from thoughtful, community minded people like this.
I agree with clive f, were it not for PH, and to some extent TVRCC I'd have given up on my Griff after a couple of months of ownership. When I had my mishap, had it not been for the support and kindness of many people here I'd've sold it there and then.

I totally agree, but should this thread not be on the General TVR forum?
Not every Chim owner (or other models) lurk on the Griff forum.

Great topic. My service book was full last year [10years],so this year I've done my own 6k.Probably done a much better job than most indies and main's[saved around £300].Done most things now, sump gasket, engine mounts, rebushed front end and all ball joints. But some things not sure about, clutch change,c.v boots change, diff bushes,.So Mr Heath if you're there how about a new "bible",third edition, with a haynes manual type format? The phrase "best seller" springs to mind.Regards,Dave.

Hear Hear!

My philosophy is two-fold.
First is that I've got such a useless memory I like having somewhere I can shove all my notes for future reference.
Second and more importantly though is giving back a bit to the PH community, and you, the Griffith owners in particular (though not forgetting SPEND wink) without who's help and suggestions I wouldn't have attempted half the jobs I've done.

It's my way of saying Thankyou for your help. biggrin

How does a topic become an FAQ? shout BBanananana?
Now that we have a couple of oft asked questions answered, maybe they should become FAQs? As well as Barreti's thread mentioned above, we now have Uncle Fester's completed here.

Yes: totally agree Griff4.0 - and then some w****r hijacks your thread with ''Hello Dave - have,nt heard from you for a while - did you ever sort out the..." irked So as you put it, you never get to the answer - like missing out on the last episode of your favourite series. t***s.
