I have an intermittant problem with my L reg Griff 500 and wondered if the ecu has any codes stored in it that might help.

My MIL light never comes on, and I have heard reports that they are not all connected. Should they come on as a bulb check when you turn on the ignition ?

If its not connected, can I connected a bulb/led up to the correct pin on the ecu (I have the diag).

Does the MIL light to tell you there is an error code or does it mean something else.

The error code readers are expensive aren't they, surely its not complicated, does anyone know the spec for the presentation of the error code, I fancy I could knock up a PIC based reader cheaper than the £159 Rimmer want.

Cheers

Assuming its the same as the chim, the MIL light flashes when I turn the ignition on (presumably as a bulb check). When I say flashes I mean it flicks on for a fraction of a second then goes out. Unless you are looking directly at it and its dark you wouldnt see it.

My 93 Chim never did anything to the MIL when switching on. IIRC Mark Adams once said they only come on if the inertia switch is tripped, and that the MIL light & function varied in the different revisions over TVR production.

My Griff is P Reg.

Mil light comes on when I turn ignition on, goes out when car is started.

Mil light came on when my serp belt came off the pulley whilst driving - got my attention!

now i think about it, when it dropped the v belt last year, and the ecu got upset and went into limp home mode, it didn't show the mil light so i have a feeling mine isn't connected.

The MIL light on my V8S (with chimaera spec catalysts engine ) is wired to the oil pressure switch as a low oiil pressure light, it doesn't have any connection to the ECU at all .. to further add to any differences out there on Lucas ECU/ MIL light configurations.

Mine too, except that although most of the wiring was in place it wasn't actually connected.

Hello Clive. Haven`t got a milf light mentioned in the manual, will check for one this weekend perhaps... Talking of MIL's coincidentally took the mother in law out in it for the first time today, wont say what speed on the road, Autobahn obviously, I was using, but good for her she asked to go faster!!laugh
