Over the weekend 16 people bid for the Griff/Chimaera secondhand steering rack on e-bay, finally selling for £525.00. A search on the forum will show many people asking about upgrading to power racks. I understand that both this part and the manual rack are unavailable from TVR. At the moment a TVR with an accident damaged rack is now a write-off? Surely there is a market out there for one of the dealers or parts suppliers to consider re-manufacturing these. Obviously it wouldn't be cheap but once a price were established it would be possible to see if production was justified.

No, TVRs are not written off for the lack of racks. Racks are rebuildable in many cases or available from breakers (at a price around £550) and that is where the issue is. The cost of remanufacturing is immense and the demand small. Yes people are looking for PAS racks as upgrades but how many are willing to spend the money on the rack? Very few or to put it another way, the need doesn't justify the costs involved. That is the issue.

Big difference in the number of people interested and those willing to commit money. Look at the Emerald ECU thread: over 20 interested originally but only a handful commited when it came to the crunch.
