Been looking a a few Griffs. for sale and they generally seem to suffer more from paint defects than Chims. and Tuscans. Does the Griff. get subjected to a harder life in this respect? I even looked at one that had a complete respray as a result of nose cone chips and a faded bonnet. I was not impressed, there were runs on the lower part of the rear wings adjacent to the doors and noticeable pimples in the finish, maybe from dust. So is it that hard to respray a fibreglaas car? Is it difficult to colour match to blend in? How much for a nose cone job, how much for a door?

I had my nose cone painted at Racing Green TVR. The Griff shape is very prone to stone chips on the front. The guy that painted it says they are struggling to get some of the paints and colour matching is always a problem. Fibreglass cars need special care when painting, but I can't see why a Griff should be any different to any other TVR. A good painter can blend in then lacquer over so you cant see the new paint from the old.

All depends on the ability of the paintshop, any car with runs etc is just a pi55 poor job and they need shooting.

The paint can be obtained and matched, you just need a good sprayer and/or paintshop.

Griffs are no worse than any other TVR with regards to stonechips, just seems you've looked at cars where the owner has gone for the'cheap' option and got what they deserved.

would agree with the above comments, the only difference with the cars being firbeglass is that they produce a static charge when being preped / washed off so anti static panel wipe is needed which is twice the cost over standard panel wipes. Also alot of poor quality paint shops don't have the equipment to lift the whole car 2 / 3ft up to allow easy of paint which is the usual case of runs low down. it took me about 10 cars till i found mine with good body work, sadly some griffs are owned by people who can afford to buy one but not have it maintained professional which puts these poor example on the road and half the people don't know good from bad.
