Exhaust manifold coating
Discussion
Demon tweeks do a product called Cermakrome, its a very high temperature ceramic piant that needs baking on after shot blasting the surface first. I know its used inside and outside exhausts and can be polished to a sheen to help the exhaust flow (on the inside). There are companies out there that will do the tricky business of applying it at a price. Much better than a paint if you can afford it. At the other end of the scale Hammertite (read Halfords)do a high temperature matt black for around £6, you can slap on with a brush. Ive had it on a cast manifold over the summer with no flaking so far, but I suspect it goes thin after a time and needs reapplying.
Had mine done with croma coat but via Tim @ ACT Performance he uses this company http://www.camcoat.u-net.com.
I have the manifolds decatted and coned, then chroma coated outside and black cermic inside. The Y picece is just chroma coat outside.
Coating seem hard, dropped the odd spanner and not make any marks.
realy needs to be done by someone with a industrial oven as the baking temps are extremly high. (I asked around at the time with local powder coaters but there ovens don't get hot enough)
Have some photos if you want.
