.. amidst all this talk of flailing grunge bearings etc...

I bought my second Griff, a 1997 500, in 1999 when it had done 12,000 miles. It's a second car, so it mainly gets out on sunny weekends and is almost up to 30,000 miles.

It's serviced once a year by Scole Engineering. It lives in a garage and sips a few milliamps from a battery conditioner now and then.

And it works perfectly, hurrah!

Well I'm just about to write a piece called "The first 50000 miles I've driven in my Griffith" and I can not say the same at all. But they've been hard miles and I love it all the same.

My Dad uses Scole Engineering, and if I were to use a local, it would be them. Well recommended.

Simpo has a lovely car and I am happy to report a similar very happy and inexpensive experience of Griff 500 ownership. The machine is totally reliable! Annual service by Scole, lashings of Shell V-Power, a few mAmps on the "float-charger", loving care with AUTOGLYM and responsible use!

For all my postings on how to do this and that, and the blood sweat and tears I've shed since owning the car, all of those have been self inflicted. The car has only had the clutch go and even that went on the drive so its never yet failed me.
Not bad for 3 years ownership.

I'm going to work in the Griff today.
And sitting here thinking about it I realise how excited I am

I got to work today, and after a frustrating drive down the M1 I pulled into a car park with entire section empty (only 10 cars in a 200 space car park these days here).
The devil dropped onto my shoulder and whispered into my ear
Go on Ian, give it some

So I laid a lovely controlled number 11 for about 8mtrs down the car park.
biggrin

I LOVE THIS CAR !
still grinning like an idiot more than an hour later

I've had my 15 year old 4.3 for 11 months now and after 3000 miles its cost me........£60. Just a rattling brake pad due to the locator clip breaking has spoiled the party. Amazing really. Unbelievably the TVR repair fund was wiped out just yesterday because my wife's BMW Mini Cooper's gearbox went west with less tha 60k on the clock - bloody Germans.
