now here me out on this one.
i have owned 2 griffs over 9 years a 4.3 & now my 500 but have always been a bit dissapointed
with the support of the seats while cornering, slightly better in the newer 500 but still
badly inadequate especially on track days, so instead of packing a cushion down either side of me when i drive are there any decent alternatives that properley support you while cornering.
i was thinking about a proper bucket seat professionaly clad in magnolia leather,
rather than a cerb or tuscan seat which are very rare in magnolia or any other colour,
also very expensive.
it would also keep the originals immaculate for putting back in if i ever sold it(unlikley)
so anyone know any good upholsterers to recover a bucket seat or better still a good aftermarket
cream or burgundy leather bucket seat.or any other bright ideas?
cheers
tim.

You might want to try the Sparco pro?

You won't find anything that holds better on bends and at speed, they dont come in leather though...

race seats are the way to go.

Corbeau do a race seat, with a wide @rse and narrow shoulders that will fit in. The also have additional cushions for "road use". £250ea or so.

there are also a few that can be had in leather/alcantara for posh cars.
search for race seats, or find in www.demon-tweaks.co.uk then drop onto manufacturers sites.

wink

Here you go...

http://motorsport.demon-tweeks.co.uk/products/Prod...

They fit all right, no problem, only the shoulders area will go just...i think this is the only race seat you can bolt into a griffith without having to cut anything infact the space available is very tight. Choose the alu supports, they're nicer and much lighter then steel ones

These are not as wide & I just realised that the price is per pair!
Anyone know what the critical dimensions are for Griff & Chim seats?

I seem to have lost my bit of paper, but IIRC, in a Chimaera there's 51cm between the sill and transmission tunnel, and the seat must be no wider than 46cm at shoulder height. No seat with with "wings" that I've measured so far will fit.

The only 'winged' seat that will fit is the sparco 'rev' that i've posted above, the shoulder is the critical measure, usually these race seats have wide shoulders and they interfere with the door closing...

Now, these sparco fit just for a fraction of an inch, in my car the door has to be closed with some strength at the biginning, then both door and seat 'accomodate' and everything goes smoothly, after some usage...

thanks Panic. Are they comfortable enough for long journeys (compared to the standard seat)?

If you mean for a 200/250 miles trip yes for sure...but bear in mind these are race seats, so you have to be ready to compromise somehow.

So you're saying they are less comfortable than the standard ones (which aren't too brilliant in my opinion, although they are o.k. for 600 mile trips).

Do you know if they can be mounted to increase the headroom? I would need about 2" more than in a -98 Chimaera.

Thing is I don't think the tuscan seat is very good either as you tend to sit on it rather than 'in ' it. The best TVR seats are the ones in the tamora and T350, these may also fit a griff but they do have shoulder 'wings'

Looking through the Demon Tweeks catalogue there seem to be plenty of non-fixed reclining sports seats that would be a tremendous improvement on the standard issue. Also some good leather colours that might actually look factory.

Does anybody have experience of fitting some of these (Recaro, Sparco, etc.) in a Griff?
