Griffith related Articles in Sprint
Discussion
As part of the reforms in Sprint magazine an editor has been appointed to look after the interests of each model.
I have been tasked with looking after the interests of the Griffith so I'd like to hear from you guys what sort of Griffith related articles you'd like to see.
If you have articles on modifications, ownership or maintenance that you think would be of interest to the magazine then let me know either by mail from here or by mailing david.hothersall@griffitheditor.co.uk
I cannot guarentee that everything submitted will be published but I'll certainly do my best.
David
PS
Before anyone questions my qualifications for the post I was approached after being suggested by someone else.

I'll second Mikes suggestion, and a bit more :cheeky:...
Why can't the TVRCC resources be used to buy old unloved cars and with volunteers / advertisers produce detailed features on a full restoration, including rebuilding all the components. Surely being able to sell them at the end (notwithstanding the fame/provenance of the rebuild) would ensure that Sprint got good value?

Great minds... after the Griff Growl I thought this is something us Griff owners should do + sell the car to raise charity funds. Not specifically Griff related, but a return to “how to” articles would be welcome. When the current editor arrived I recall a note stating that these would no longer be published for fear of legal repercussions. One technical journal I used to subscribe to had a superb system where readers sent in small items on how they resolved a particular problem (this was electronic circuit design but the same principle applies). Usually three or four items were published each moth. The authors were encouraged by a small goody of some sort for the best idea each moth and then an annual award for the best of the year. Then on an annual basis a CD was available cataloging all the issues and repeating the articles. Presumably in the day of the interweb articles could be subsequently be made available on the club website.
I and probably many others would be happy to submit a few notes and perhaps a picture or two as and when topics arise, I did this in the past but fell out of the habit after the no factual articles statement.
Generally I feel Sprint is very nicely presented and definitely has a quality feel compared to some other club mags, it does however lack content for people who do a bit of spannering.

Nice one Steve. The bible covers a lot, but can't do it all. Just looking at the topics that come up most (e.g. tyres, polybushes, body off) the subjects of interest range from the day to day maintenance to upgrades to major work to a cry for help. Not sure of the link (if any) between PH and sprint, but there must be some synergy? Can you nobble people that have done something and written about it on this forum? There are a lot of knowledgeable folk about

I'd second this - any help is appreciated in building up the confidence before taking on a new job on the Tiv. Most are not as bad as I feared, once you get "stuck in".I have just agreed the fitting of an Emerald ECU and the job will be done in Norfolk, probably January.
This will include full new ECU/engine loom being supplied and fitted with old one comming out entirely.
Emerald gave me a name thats local to them, Paul Dove (PJD Wiring Co). The guy has done a few Griffs for them in the past. He makes their looms, does the fitting then takes the car to Emerald and they map it.
If you like I can ask him to take a few photo's as he does it. Unfortunatly, I won't be there while he does his stuff. Just for the mapping session. Emerald give you the software and show you how to use it during the mapping session.
The car will be up there a couple of weeks. I can try and put something together, but if you want to pop along and take a few photo's/write a few words I have no objection.

I agree that a Customised Griffith centrefold each month would be an interesting and amusing curiousity - customised engines such as LS6, AJP8, Speed6, Ford Diesel, etc. one month, customised bodywork such as Speed6 lights, flip-flop colours, weird spoliers, etc. the next month.
A Max Power type centrefold pull-out each month really. Giveaways like underbody neons and stick-on decals would complete the package for me.

Or even Ian or Mike's AJP8 conversion.
I would not classify Mikes L110 as a conversion! He has embarked on a complicated restoration process, with terrier like dedication
I hope I'm not treading on Mikes toes, but you really should note how he is trying to authentically restore the car to a known state, not just installing modified components for performance or enhancement. I don't think many of us would or could follow a path to such detail without deviation, funny really how like minded Jigs & Mike are in some ways

Yeah I was using the word in a loose sense, but then again, it's last inCARnation was Speed 6 so it's a Retro conversion
