Just wanted to sing the praises of the ACT induction kit. My 4.3 was in a very fit state beforehand as Mark Adams has told me, the only engine mod being his chip, and with this kit on it just feels noticably quicker accross the rev range..especially at lower revs. Well worth the investment!

What goodies did you all get ? You don't happen to have some photos.

No pics unfortunately. I got a K&N filter, AFM to Filter hose, heat sleeve, and cylinder attachment. see;

The most important hose by far to replace is the Airflow to the plenum, smooth bore, the rest of the stuff mentioned above will make little difference to performance in my experience.

Yup sorry that also includes the Plenum- aitrflow meter hose/elbow

well i had the elbow and filter on for about 3 weeks before i got round to fitting the pipe from the filter to the meter...there was certainly an improvement without the pipe...but once i fitted that there was again a definate improvement. very noticable.

Any advantage from removing the AFM grid as well?

I seem to recall Joolz did some tests on this - IIRC HarryW asked the question. I *think* the answer was "upto 5bhp"...

Do you mean Joo Track Car Podie scratchchin as i know he has carried out these test with approx 5 hp for the elbow and 0 for the rest although i can imagine that the K&N should make a couple also especialy if the old one was on its last legs yes

The AFM gauze did make a difference but not as much as 5hp, and the potential for debris to go through the metering part (however slight that might be) would deter me from running in that configuration.

Hi Laz11, glad you like the kit and thanks for pointing this out, whilst the filter will only make a small difference depending on the condition of orginal, the large (AFM to Filter) pipe is a key part of the kit, it will give more torque gain than the plenum elbow. When you consider the air speed within the pipe at full throttle and look at original ribbed hose and compare that with smooth hose it's not supprising that we see a good gain, standard 4.0L cars not so much though.

What do you call a good gain Tim ?

Personally i could not tell the difference between the ribbed and the smooth when replacing the long pipe but could when the elbow was changed yes
so much so that i have binned the long pipe for the far more efficient Track Car Solutions intake system when coupled with an after market ecu etc

I don't suppose you have any before and after figures to share with us showing the difference between the two long ribbed and smooth pipes out of interest ?

approx 8-10 lb ft on Griff 500 2 modded 1 standard(long pipe only) 3 back to back tests, it's the best solution for meter to filter on standard intake system, i don't understand why you would bin it rather than contact us to discuss, all of our tuning products are tested and garanteed to make a benefit if somebody isn't happy we'll refund them.

8-10 lb/ft but no Hp gain ? As i would expect.

Once you break the 320 barrier the engine is calling for far more air as you can imagine so i went to the next level in induction which is the TCS System which is currently feeding my car's air requirement to the tune of 350 hp 350 lb/ft.

I did not literally bin the straight pipe Tim i put it on e-bay but unfortunately it only made £10 frown

Pasco, Any pics of the TCS induction kit? Im guessing your running it with aftermarket ecu as well?
Cheers Ben

BHp gain 10bhp on a 350bhp motor, i always quote torque first as this is what really counts, they make better peak power to.
you still should have spoken to me first, lucky to get £10 for part of a kit.
I would be interested to see what alternative kit you have, we do cater for any application, currently working with John Eales to help produce the daddy of all induction kits with twin 89mm intake pipes.

Interesting. I'm not a BHP freak but the ribbed hose looks tatty and has a small hole where the bonnet has rubbed on it. Now I'm not a clever auto-engineer person but I can undo Jubilee clips - can I buy a piece of smooth hose and fit it and make things work better? Or will the change then affect something else and knock on all the way down to the crankshaft trudgers?
