Power steering u bend remedy
Discussion
Hello all,
Not sure if this will help anyone but thought I'd post up in case as I couldn't find anything similar in the archives.
I got fed up with the power steering pipe from the reservoir into the steel u bend leaking, being tightened, leaking again etc. (yeah I know it serves me right for being a girl and having PAS).
So I ordered up a heavy duty pipe with built in u bend which turned up ripped. So there we were, in a shed, cold, but with coffee and got to thinking what if we could change the pump so the steel inlet pipe was not at an angle thus removing the need for the u bend?
The inlet pipe was sweated into the pump rather than screwed in but we had a new bit made up and sweated in and sealed and voila, one join onto the pump instead of three and the same price as buying and fitting the heavy duty one.
Chris at JMS in Kent sorted it with his engineer mate and it really is a tidy job.
As I said, not sure if it'll help anyone but its also a story of how british things are made: In sheds!
Cheers

I started off with a hose similar to that in set up which came out of the packet torn at the coupling, so we changed the joint on the pump as I couldn't be bothered to wait for another one. That braided one does look the business though!
That said the change cost about £160 but it removed the need for any kind of join / ubend with the pipe going from the reservoir straight onto the pump.
Andy, JMS are about 30 minutes from you in Faversham if that's any good.

The contact details on the JMS website are the old ones. Do you have the new ones? That said the change cost about £160 but it removed the need for any kind of join / ubend with the pipe going from the reservoir straight onto the pump.
