I noticed on the other side a conversation that went along the lines of "I read some test from the Chimera 5.0 and the Girff 5.0. In the tests always the Griff had a better acceleration. Does anybody know the reason of this?"

One response was "because it's quicker". I think this may be a good place for us to start our own thread on this!

There's two competing theories.

The first is drag co-efficient.
It is thought that having misunderstood the meaning of 'drag race' the Chimp driver wastes time checking that the seams of his stockings are straight.
Why this should matter I don't know as it would be the only straight thing in the car.

The alternative explanation is that the Chimp drivers follow anything with a more attractive rear end than their own to admire it.

Personally, I don't subscribe to either theory.

I just think the Chimps know their place.

hehe

And Griffs usually have the roof in the boot which aids traction.

Given the vast range of performance seen on 'indentical' models within the ranges, I think its going to be very hard to qualify? Hell even finding two original unmolested examples in a good state of tune to compare may prove impossible.

Exactly right Dave, seem to remember some low 500's at the Growl.
Think there may have been one with less donkies than my 400..

I run both a Griff 500 and a Chim 500, IMHO, the Griff always feels the more special of the two and is always the keys I pick up first. However you will get more Chim for your money.

Nice to have the choice I surpose and quite handy for swapping bits over if one has a problem as long as it's not heater controls. But more importantly, does the Griff feel quicker?

No, it's usually because the owners haven't figured out how to remove it without sawing it in half!

Or because it wouldn't cross their minds to put it on in the first place biggrin
