One thing that's intrigued me is the similarity of the gear change in my old Transit to the Sierra Cosworth I had years ago.( Baulks going into first, Short clicky throw, same pattern) Although the Griff gearbox has a different feel because of the remote linkage, could this mean My Griff shares a similar gearbox to a Ford Transit? F&C

The only similarities I've noticed are those of a Chim.ie distinct lack of performance, poor handling and huge ammount of space in the back for Golf clubs!!!! hehe

The gearbox in your Transit is probably a MT75 and the T5 was based on this box. The internals of a T5 fit the MT75 but it isn't the same gearbox.

We're both fine thanks. Hope you are both ok too. Disappointed in Spend's reply as I had him down for a knowledgeable, sensible type... It's good to see he has a sense of humour! biggrin

Sorry to throw your theory but both my Griff and my Transit have reverse in the same position (to the right and then back).

The transit should be an mt75, easy way to try is sounds a bit harsh i no!! travel forwards at at around 5 mph dip the clutch and put it in reverse, the mt75 has a syncro on reverse that lets you do this, the t5 doesnt it will crunch like crazy so dont try this with your tiv!!

I didn't say reverse was in a different place, Pascoe said that. So my suggestion still stands smile

It appears that you are right Dave. According to the Haynes book of lies that I have now seen. It is the MT75. yes
