Last night I took delivery of my early Christmas present a 97 R reg Griff 500. Well, not really a present but finally bought one after looking at 14 cars in the last 6 months. I would like to say thankyou to all those who have helped me in my search through PH posts etc. I ended up with the spec. I really wanted which included PAS and full leather. The colour is Rosso pearl with two tone magnolia/cranberry (I think)interior. Wants a good sort out on the underside with powder coat hanging off the lower front wishbones and rust on the outriggers despite history of several waxoyl applications. The OS front outrigger looks quite pitted at its corner, too early at this stage to determine if it is holed. Ar well plenty of work to be done in the new year.
The Griff was my second choice as Chris (Barkychoc) who bought my V8S will know. I really wanted a GD Cobra with Euro chassis LS2/6 engine and T56 box. They are really rare with that spec so will just have to build one myself, well maybe one day.

Nice one eng622. And one of the nicest colours on a Griff in my opinion; same as Jeffsy's I think.

And almost exactly to the day I was picking up my Griff, albeit four years ago; hang on to and look after it mate. smile

That sounds very nice - same year as mine but mine's the other way round - silver with red interior (like Seasider's only more tasteful).

If and when you fancy a change, get in touch - I might swap!

Yebbut - at the end of the day a Cobra replica isn't a real make, just a collection of parts you spec yourself.

Congrats ENG and loads of fun.
I am surprised by the choice of a Griff if you wanted a Cobra.
The Chim has lines more akin to a Cobra than that ugly arsed Griff.

Nope, I bought the Griff for the main reason that to me it comes close to perfection in styling, otherwise I would have bought a 5.0 Chimp, same performance and would have saved myself five grand or more. I see E type Jag in the front end and Cobra in the bulbous rear but in its own right the styling is timeless which I could never see in a Chimp. Maybe the Griff is not a classic yet as prices are still geared to the year of manufacture. I want to keep this car for at least five years by which time I'm sure they will be classics. OK, the Griff to me has just one styling fault and it is those rear lights and in that respect I do like the later Chimp ones.

I know exactly what you mean, but Chimps @rses aren't that ugly, it looks more like a Baboons bottom to me.
