A bit of fun over my holiday

Hi David, That installation looks great
and big
to you... although I might ask...are you colour blind per chance
interesting place for the coil packs too did you have a bracket made to hold them there?
Have you had it on a RR yet? either way i bet your glad to get it back on the road

hi Simon, we did try but the coil packs were so big it didn`t give us many options on where to put them, let alone make them look nice and neat, perhaps if dave trys some smaller ones later on we can sort something out, but it is a proto type after all.
dave briefly fired it up yesterday, the induction noise adds another dimension to an already awesome sounding car!
I do think that he is going to have to find a purple dye or paint though, those green filters and blue hoses don`t quite match in with the scheme of things

Hopefully will function as well as it looks
What's the logic for having the Oxygen sensor in one bank only (I'm assuming the sensor in the driver's side is for EGT)?
Maybe the individual Ford pattern four-tower coil packs would be a more versatile solution. Did wonder about mounting a pack on the inner wing adjacent to each head but guess the firing order would bugger that up.

Well spotted! There's only one oxygen sensor because I'm lazy (and haven't had time) to wire the second one in. I'd need to weld in some more bosses for the EGT sensors. (there should be 2 of these too)
I have looked at the Subaru coil blocks because they are the same fitting for the HT leads as I have already. They're similar to the Ford ones. I believe it does work with the firing order if you have a block on each side.
I don't really want to give the individual coils up because they're able to be used for ion sensing when it finally works on my ECU...

I spent a pleasant morning at Joos establishment on Thursday to get some data on how the plenums perform.
Remember that at the Growl, the car produced a mild 260 bhp, and that both times we were using 95 RON fuel (therefore det limited at the top end, with a fair bit of timing removed) The torque below 3000 RPM is now slightly better by a few ftlbs, and the plenums result in much more at the top end, even with the slight misfire from my dodgy HT leads...

The hump at 4000 RPM is a bit of a strange one, and I'm not too sure why it's there. Presumably it's some pulse tuning artifact. It's definitely a feature of the car and not the dyno because we get the same answer every time.
There's still plenty of playing to do, but I'm happy so far with a 50bhp gain that seems to be from the plenums and altering the fuelling to suit... Now I need to do something to stop the heatsoak while pootling round in town, check cam timing and so-on.
