stalling from cold.
Discussion
My 4.3 griff has a reluctance to sit at idle without feathering the throttle, only from stone cold and then only for a minute or so. as soon as it starts to warm its fine, and also fine when hot...Its not really much of a hassle but thought i would ask the experts as to whether to live with it or not.....I have read and re-read all old idle topics with the search facility but couldnt really find a similar senario.

I'm not sure if this will be much use to you, especially if your car is in regular use and looked after etc..... but, I've just solved the same problem with mine.
My Griff has been off the road for quite some time now but gets turned over, moved about fairly regularly. However, the past few times I've started the car it didn't sound as if it was running right and gave the exact symptons you are describing. Once warm it ran fine but from cold it struggled to idle without a touch of throttle.
Turned out that the ends of the HT leads and the points on the distributor cap had a fair amount of oxidation on them, No. 7 in particular was pretty bad. So I cleaned them up and it ran better but still not perfect. I then tried the spark plugs of which two or three had quite bad carbon build up. Cleaned them, put them back and now the car's running perfectly again.
It's an easy and straight forward check but before pulling HT leads off randomly make sure you label which lead goes to which cylinder and which point on the distributor cap.
Steve Heath's manual and Peter Beech's Workshop Notes were useful for the ignition system and firing order etc.
