Help with Howling
Discussion
Have just bought a 96 Griff 500. The car runs and ticks over perfect. Oil pressure and Water temperature spot on. The problem is as soon as the engine is starting to get warm it develops a loud humming noise, the humming is on about the same pitch as a loud ringing in the ears, as soon as the revs start to rise it is not heard. When the cooling fans kick in the noise goes down in volume. Have been told it could be inlet side. Removed long inlet pipe and it still does it. You can only hear it up to about 2500 revs and it stays on a constant pitch. Driving me mad, Any help appreciated.

Have a listen down at the air intake, if it sounds like an air whine, you may find the air screw is incorrectly adjusted.
This happens a lot on RV8`s when someone who does not know these engines has a fiddle.
Hope tis helps

Howling is small problem, compared to body jacking!!

I never have a problem with howling.
But if you're new to it, you may find a full moon helps set the mood.
Does your Griff only do it on certain nights?
