Hello
Plan to replace the rear discs tomorrow. Not an upgrade simply replacing the old rusty ones with shiny new ones.

Looks fairly simple, Calliper off, swap disc, calliper back on.

Any tips anybody ? In particular any advice about adjusting the handbrake bit so that it actually works.

Depending on the material lost off the old one you mind need to wind the pistons back a bit.

Not sure if im recalling correctly, but i think to take the caliper carrier off they are held in place by 8mm cap head allen bolts and there isnt alot of clearance to get a allen key in. So can prove awkward unless you've got a stubby allen key.

To free the h'brake components is essential, unhooking the cable from the caliper is a real PITA tho I found frown I think its easier to undo both caliper bolts and remove the caliper to work with. Make sure you wind in/out the piston to ensure the adjustment ratchet is freed and working. Slacken right off the handbrake adjuster and lubricate the cables. After you have reassembled you can lie under the car (on ramps) and do up the adjusters so that pulling on the cable just tightens the caliper - but more importantly when released there is enough slack to allow the ratchet to work. After you have the caliper in hand & free it off you will see quite easily what is required for the ratchet to work.

Yep, I keep a cut down one just for this job. Lots of WD40 the night before helps.
