Now I can never figure out which way round it is.... Are the front brakes from a 2wd Sierra or a 4wd one?

I know one variant has 4 pots and the one the Griff's come from has 2 pots but which is the exact donor car for a '96 Griff?

According to the alternative parts list on thegriffithpages for a 500 Griff it's Escort Cosworth Turbo Mk2 on the front and Escort Cosworth 4x4 on the rear.
Its Sierra on the 4.x models

Only the 2wd cossie has 4 pots (check www.brake-eng.co.uk), but bear in mind they're an old design and therefore a heavy caliper, there might be better choices on ebay from Brembo/AP.

Not sure if this is of any use, but the Porsche 944 turbo ran Brembo 4 pots and a 300mm disc. If you get hold of 16" Estorils, 300mm will fit no bother, I'd doubt you'd need more stopping power than that. The focus ST170 ran a 300mm disc 4x108 bolt pattern too, not sure if the offset for the disc would be right, but it might be workable ...

ST's are Brembo anyway aren't they? Should do the job nicely, I did consider them before deciding in the Compbrake route.

Wrong sort of ST. Daily driver is a Mondeo ST200, which is a Mk2.

Ah, the Focus ST and RS brakes looked very promising but I haven't got the facilities to get all the machining done any more.

I'm going 17" Compomotive MO6 wheels with the Compbrake calipers, I'm just checking final offsets before I order the wheels.
