Is anyone using these switches in a wooden dash? Any photos available?

They'd look better in your carbon'd dash Grover. All your dash needs is a good thick layer of polished lacquer; just like mine will be before too long.

Oh dear. Ah well - they're a bit pricey anyway.

Back to the 'standard' switches then, as shown on TGP - it's not clear to me that they are identical to the originals, they certainly don't look the same on RSWWW or Maplins websites. Has anyone bought them and can confirm they are the same?

I suppose they're pretty darn cheap though so not much to lose anyway. wink

I spoke to the guy who makes them at the Autosport/pistonheads show recently. He said that the switch was good quality. The business end is an encapsulated micro switch type of thing which feels like a quality item. As long as the contact loading is not exceeded i dont see why these would not be any good? The front end is the home made part. Agree looks a bit rough around the edges but i am going to use a few of them on my carbon dash. Closest thing to the originals...

Many of mine have been replaced with the Maplins ones, TVR & Leven covers fit fine if you need be, they must be just about identical.

Deeply hidden in Farnells (I hate that website) are very nice solid alloy alternatives with very funky lighting ~ somebody did fit them - a long time ago now...

Oh. Oh bugger. Why did that man above not say so sooner!!!!!!!! There are some nice switches on the Farnell site. Agree it is a shit to navigate. Only problem is the switches are blank.

So is this with the black cap a direct replacement for the factory fitted switches in a 1992 430 precat?

Yup, just use all double pole switches (easier to swap around if need be). I think I re-used the original black caps before sticking the Leven covers on. Can't really remember but think it was just because new vs old just looked a bit odd rather than a matching type thing.

The top switch is the type that replaces the dash lights switch under the dash isn't it? I'd be interested in seeing one if you're buying one, I was going to replace mine because it's only latching on one side but not having seen one haven't bothered to order one. They're web only I believe?

Just get the DP latch, they can be used all over (except the boot release - requires a momentary). The original dash light 'clear' button is hard to replicate but it doesn't show anyway.

I have the Farnell ones, red with engine start, the others clear and sprayed black, with ally surround look great. Pricey but the feel is greatly improved.

Are they the ones with the outer circle of illumination? Someone posted pics ages ago that looked really smart... (but I was deflated at the price frown) Still the nicest switches I have seen wink

I'm a bit concerned about these alloy/silver switches against a wood dash - I've seen plenty looking fine on alloy/stainless dashes.
Any polaroids out there?

They do not have illuminated outer ring but the whole press surface illuminates. They do come with either black outer ring as well as ally.
